Today In The Fishroom~12/12/10 F0 A. hogaboomorum

The male is about 12"...very nice trailing fins. They breed consistently in a 180 gallon tank. One other "third wheel" male Hog and a very beat up Synspilum...whom I call "Pugsly"...there is also a small Pleco...no idea on species.
I have several pots in the tank of varying sizes...more to provide shelter if things get rough. The pair have always bred in the maroon pot on the right. I had thought about removing that to see if they would pick an alternate site. I've found that you always stand a chance of upsetting the natural balance of harmony between the tank mates by removing or changing the landscape drastically...so I let it be.
Just prior to breeding the pair will have a little turf war with the male on the other side of the tank. I get a kick when I see the female swimming way over to the bachelor's pot..displaying. The other male responds...either out of frustration or desire. "Pugsly" was there to act as a target fish, but lately has been courting the bachelor Hog. That poor guy can't get a break. All dressed up and no where to go. LOL

Yes. The fish are both F0. I brought them back from Honduras where they are endemic to the Rio Cholteca. They are closely related to the A. citrinellum.
@enginkoc34...I understand. No, that doesn't offend me. I do lots of things that don't look natural in a fishtank.
